What’s up? My name is Kristin, and I want to help you save money. I want to help you make money. Mostly, it would be awesome if I could help you kick ass at this whole personal finance thing. That’s what I’ve been trying to do for the past few years. In 2010, I left my job in Houston to move to Los Angeles and make it as a writer. I started essaying about my career and financial journey over at Get Rich Slowly back in 2012, and now, I regularly contribute to Lifehacker, NBC News, and a handful of other outlets. You can read more about my background here.
Money is a tool. It’s just a thing we use to buy other things that matter to us, whether that’s freedom from debt, security in retirement, or hell, just some nice shoes. Brokepedia is about using your money to do whatever you want with your life. It’s about saving money, making more of it, and managing it.
